Yes you need travel and medical insurance and you are responsible to arrange it., Outreach Vietnam cannot take responsibility for the financial compensation for any loss or theft of possessions or medical assistance required, during your volunteer placement.

As with any overseas travel, insurance is highly recommended and comprehensive travel and medical insurance should be obtained before traveling to Vietnam.  Check on line to see what offers are available or talk to your travel agent.

You are responsible for arranging your own visa for Vietnam. You should obtain Tourist Visa as we do not have provision for Volunteer Visa in Vietnam.

We recommend that you obtain your visa in your home country, as it saves time and you can avoid the long (sometimes very long) queues at the airport.

If you stay longer than the duration of your initial visa, you must obtain visa extension at the Immigration office.

Note: Please note that your passport must have at least six months validity.

You are responsible to arrange your own flight and visa.

You are required to pay an exit fee as well as a security fee to leave Vietnam by airplane: International Flights: 14 USD from Hanoi / HCMC

A normal tourist visa is the best way to volunteer, as it is cheap, fast and less complicate and enough to work on a volunteer project.

There are two ways to obtain a visa.

Apply a visa at Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate at your country .

Apply online visa (E-visa or On-arrival visa). This way is quite convenient. You can apply from your accommodation then pick-up the visa at arrival airports of Vietnam.

Within South Vietnam you can extend your visa 2 times and then you will have to leave the country, apply for a visa in a different country and then return. For long term volunteers, there are a few different options you can think about when the time to extend your visa arrives. Please contact your coordinator and ask for help.

Normal case costs approximately US$30 – 45/pax – 5 working days

Urgent case costs approximately US$45 – 55/pax – 2 working days, some case we can arrange in 1 working day

The costs exclude USD 25 visa fee at custom office at the airport.

Most visitors to Vietnam need a visa to enter the country. Visas are exempted for the citizens of the countries, which have signed a bilateral or unilateral visa exemption agreement with Vietnam; tourist visa may be valid for 15 to 30 days.

In order to get Visa on arrival at international airports in Vietnam through a travel agent, you need to follow the below steps:

Step 5: After receiving the payment, the travel agent will send your Visa request to Vietnam Immigration Police

(Need 2 working days for urgent case – 5 working days for normal case )

Step 6: You will receive the Visa approval from Police Department by email

Step 7: Print this visa approval for airline check in – need to bring 2 passport photos (size 4×6 cm)

Step 8: Show the Visa approval at the airport in Vietnam – pay 25USD for stamp Visa fees at the airport to the custume officier.

Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish citizens will be exempted from requiring visas as of May 1 when they enter, exit or stay in Viet Nam for less than 15 days. Decision No. 808/2005/QD-BNG issued by the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on April 13 stipulates that these countries’ citizens must have valid passports for at least three months since they enter Viet Nam, return tickets or tickets for a third country.

This does not apply to those who have been banned from entering or have not been allowed to enter Viet Nam under Vietnamese laws.

After entering Viet Nam, if they want to stay more than 15 days, and have a valid reason as laid out by Vietnamese agencies, organizations and individuals for the

Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos. Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan and South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland. (Vietnamese diplomatic and official passport holders are exempted from visa requirements to enter Japan).

French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates. Vietnamese citizens holding valid diplomatic passports also enjoy similar privileges.

Citizens of Chile and Vietnam holding valid diplomatic or official passports from one of the two countries are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in the other’s territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit

Since Outreach Vietnam is social organization we do not receive any financial support from the government and we’re contribututed 51% up to to social work and also pay tax. The application and volunteering fees are required for us to operate and provide you with the opportunity to volunteer. Any profits and donation received is always invested to empower the communities we serve. We have a full time staff to organize the various projects and to support volunteers like you during your time here in Vietnam.
